Overview of BUILD-IT forum in 2022
On May 27, 2022, the 2022 series of BUILD-IT forums was held in Hanoi, focusing on key topics of the BUILD-IT playbooks as prioritized by university partners. Topics may include Institutional Accreditation, Project Based-Learning, Digital Immersion Learning, Program Accreditation (AUN-ABET), Industry Advisory Boards, Women in STEM, Maker Innovation Network, and Faculty Development and Active Learning, etc. Sessions will be held face-to-face (public health permitting) utilizing locations in Hanoi and HCMC. ASU and Vietnamese faculty experts will teach and conduct these sessions.
BUILD-IT anticipates that, the Playbooks will become recognized resources and utilized for university and HEI planning and will be utilized to build scale – reaching additional universities and engineering programs throughout Vietnam for sustainable, nationwide change. The forum participants include: University Leadership /Academic Leaders /Program Faculty Leads /Accreditation Teams /Quality Assurance Staff. And through keynote speeches and discussion sessions to highlight Vietnam's successes in achieving AUN-QA or ABET certification.

Dr. Scott Danielson, gave a brief overview of the nature of international recognition, its value and benefits with a focus on ABET, lead into an overview of playbook’s coverage of a structured and successful process, tested by Vietnamese programs, at the start of the forum. Assessment BUILD-IT has assisted model universities in Vietnam in implementing strong quality systems in order to acquire worldwide recognition. BUILD-IT tools and processes for assessment and evaluation have become part of the institutional process, contributing to the long-term sustainability of excellent education by expanding the range of programs. Beyond the target programs, seek and acquire worldwide recognition and accreditation.
Continuing the forum program, invited guests presented and provided insights on related themes in turn. Participants also spoke on the importance of worldwide recognition for Vietnam and business. Following the presentation of HEI 2 representatives: Assoc. Prof. Pham Van Tuan, set the condition and allowed the panelists to offer their perspectives on the issue questions. The conversation was lively, with a lot of intriguing topics presented to the panel participants, such as: How can quality (and performance) be enhanced through international recognition (institution and program)? And what are the main challenges (if any) ? The MOET has been very supportive of the mentoring and coaching regarding ABET accreditation and AUN evaluation. The 2022 BUILD-IT forum concluded successfully at the end of the session. The conference offered an overview of the organized approach and major variables that contributed to the AUN-QA program's successful ABET accreditation and evaluation. Furthermore, the forum helps participants expand their competence through keynote speeches and discussion sessions that emphasize Vietnam's achievements in gaining AUN-QA or ABET certification. In the Vietnamese context, proven patterns and essential success criteria are presented.
